Wolf wrote on 1st Aug 2006, 19:35h: What happened to the underground sounding, rough Garbage? To me it seems as if Garbage has really lost their roots forever. If you want a beautifulgarbage-ish - album, you can definitely buy this one. It sounds nice, yes, if it were a pop record. But for a rock record, it surely is worth being a placemat for your lager, or frisbee it around. If the CD image were nicer, you could perhaps use it as a poster. Now, what makes this such a poor album? Compare perhaps "Milk", "My Lovers Box" or "Vow" with for instance "Sex Is Not The Enemy" and "Right Between The Eyes". What happened to the dark edge? Why the happiness? And even though the song Bleed Like Me has some lyrical originality, it does not quite reach any of the musical quality that is to be found in their first two records. |
