The White Stripes
Detroit minimalist rock duo (specifically, southwest Detroit minimalist rock duo) the White Stripes — Jack White, guitar and vocals, Meg White, drums — formed in 1997 (Bastille Day, to be precise) with the idea of making simple rock & roll music. From the red-and-white peppermint candy motif of their debut singles, self-titled album, and stage show to their on-the-surface rudimentary style, they succeeded wildly and immediately with that mission. Their first recordings were a mix of garage rock, blues, and the occasional show tune.

Hardest Button to Button 2. Icky Thump 3. Hotel Yorba 4. Seven Nation Army 5. My Doorbell 6. We're Going to Be Friends 7. Girl, You Have No Faith In Medicine they were portrayed in an episode of The Simpsons where Bart Simpson got a drum set and bashed it around town, running straight into Meg White, who then chased him down the streets in a parody of their music video "Hardest Button to Button". |

Brother and sister duo that sometimes makes me wonder if they aren't involved a little more than musically. Chuckles. However, with the exception of just a few songs, I cannot find a song that I just absolutely despise among their repetoire. "It's True that We Love One Another", "Hotel Yorba", "I'm Finding it Harder to be a Gentleman everyday", and "Offend in Everyway" are definitely my top four. "Why don't you go off and love yourself" "If I did, Holly, there won't be anything left for anybody else..." |
