Akon, real name Aliaune Thiam, is this weeks Featured Artist. He is known for his smash hits like 'Smack That' and the slightly controversial 'I Wanna [Love] You'. As of today, Akon has released 3 albums, 'Trouble', 'Konvicted' and 'Freedom'.
Akon grew up as the son of famous jazz musician Mor Thiam. This inspiring environment helped him play many instruments and use various influences for his musical carreer. It is those skills that got him where he is now.

Obviously, I’ve already given my opinion about him and his music, but I happened to see him in a commercial last week, to which my mother said, “Well, don’t have one of his albums?!” in response to my, “How disgusting!” comment. His voice is just too atrocious for me to even consider his lyrics, and whenever I have taken the time to hear past his (what I consider) revolting voice, the lyrics are below average. I have only ever been able to listen to one—and only one—song of his all the way through. It is and always will be beyond me as to why anyone would listen to songs like the ones I have heard from him. And for the record, my mom was mixing up Akon with my K-OS albums. K-OS FTW, but Akon is just insulting and the videos can be degrading. |
