I for one don't know what Davey's sexual orientation is. Emo tends be affiliated with bisexualism in guys and not necessarily being gay. Another thing to know is that AFI used to be punk...they've kinda sold out to the Emo craze.... So there is a chance that Davey isn't gay at all or bi. As for the lyrics I think they are genderless. So that it can apply with both genders. That is why one part is "he" and the other is "she." The fact that the non-chorus parts of the lyrics are about a woman seems to imply that it might actually be heterosexual and not gay. About the "blood" i believe it has to do with who a person is at their core. You know kinda like that whole "blood is thicker than water" kind of deal. By the person drinking his blood/war they are connecting and becoming one. War can me more than just a battle with guns and artillery. It can me struggle or strife. By drinking his war they are becoming a part of his strife. Sharing the pain of a loved one. Love is like winter in that it is harsh and loving at the same time... Outside it is very cold and harsh during winter and causes you pain. But in the inside(like a home) you are with other people keeping together warm and safe from the harsh of the outside. The duality of the word winter is made very useful in this song. The part about meeting his love before he was born and the girl writing por siempre on the mirror, I think all have to do about people being soul mates and that in the past they were together and they've found each other in the present and will so in the future. The future part being the line "It seems you are somewhere, far away" because in a different life in teh future it will be far away. This might also hint at a diruption in love and how it can be cold, like winter. this is what i think of it. AFI doesnt really explain what their lyrics to leave the interpretation to the listener. Something all great artist will do. The mystery makes it more appealing. What i've written is what it means to me. |

As for the song itself, my view stays the same. It's an okay song, but not one of the best I've ever heard.
